It is very important to properly support installed piping. Improperly supported pipe can result in the transmission of excessive noise into the frame of the building, reoccurring leaks, cracking, and, in extreme cases, buckling. Pipe should be supported by some type of commercial pipe hangers. There are a variety of systems on the market, and any one can be effective in this role. In most cases, some combination of hanger types is used

above Figure shows a typical pipe hanger. The pipe rests in a band-type saddle that is supported with a bridge and hanger bolt. The bridge is supported via a threaded rod that screws into a beam clamp. The beam
clamp is tightened onto the flange of an overhead beam.
